Tonight I find myself writing about StrengthsFinder again – trying to get an introductory plug/offer put together. A friend told me that she had a lot of success getting coaching clients by posting a “5 free offer” on a Facebook group. (it’s called that cause you offer five free whatever’s. Also I made it up.) She’s been doing it for about a while and it’s blown up enough that it keeps her crazy busy. She said I could post something to her group, so I thought I better do that.
Back up a minute- did you guys even know that I do coaching? It’s one of the things I love doing more than anything – everytime I hang up from a coaching conversation I’ve got more energy than I know what to do with. I’m a little giddy in that moment. Well, in that next two hours or so of moments.
Lots of people don’t really know what coaching is – they assume I’m talking about t-ball or something. This is not that sort of coaching. This is life coaching. It’s a relationship built on conversations of questions and answers that get you to where you want to be. With a goal, with a pursuit, with whatever. You’re the impetus and I’m the sounding board, reflecting what I hear and asking questions that get you thinking and seeing things from a new angle.
I especially love talking to people about the social/personality science stuff that I’ve learned. There’s so much science out there, waiting to be everyday knowledge and make a difference in the way people live but it just doesn’t get as much press as the Kardashians. I love, love, love letting people in on the secrets of social & personality psychology, physiology, and whatever other goodness I’ve found.
This particular pitch (It’s a pitch! I just realized that.) is focused on StrengthsFinder – one of my first personality psychology babies. I love that thing. I had a bit of a crisis this past fall when I was learning about Growth Mindset and trying to understand how they fit together. It took me a bit, but I finally got to a place where I could love and believe them both.
So. I might as well include it down below. Seeing as I don’t know much about pitches, feel free to let me know what you think about it.
*****
The first time I read through StrengthsFinder, I cried. I recognized myself – a part of myself that I thought was wrong and needed to be fixed – in one of the descriptions and realized that this was actually…okay. This was good even. This wasn’t something wrong with me – this was a talent I had that I could use. I could kick ass at this thing.
So often we think we already know the things we’re good at. We think we know the things we’re bad at. What we don’t realize is that we’re interpreting ourselves through filters of other people – what they’re good at or what they expect us to be. We compare ourselves constantly and we just don’t measure up. What we don’t realize is that some of the things we’re best at, we don’t even recognize as “things”. We’re missing out on our greatest talents simply because we’re so close them we can’t see them for what they are.
StrengthsFinder is amazing because it focuses on what’s right with us. It’s an online assessment that gives a report on your top five talents – the areas where we have the most potential to excel. Instead of trying to measure up to everyone else, it sets us out on a journey of freedom to be ourselves. To be aware of our own unique talents and to develop them into strengths…into our own unique brand of kick-assery.
Take StrengthsFinder. Purchase the assessment code and spend twenty minutes to answer the questions. Whether you chose to work with me or not, take the opportunity to step back and learn about your greatest talents. Everyone deserves to know what they’re good at.
If you want to know more – what this means for you, what it definitely does NOT mean, how to put this knowledge to work for you…
If you want to experience a life in which you’re true to yourself and you get to spend your time being a kickass whatever it is that you spend your time on…
If you want to see your potential recognized…
If you feel like you’re always swimming upstream and you’re tired of it…
I’d love to be your coach.
I’m excited about StrengthsFinder, and about what it can do for you. I’m excited because I know what’s in store for you once you start this. Confidence, understanding, new potential…it’s good, good stuff. I’d love to help you get started and so I’m offering a free StrengthsFinder coaching session for five people. Leave a message below to let me know what you’d like to get from StrengthsFinder. I can’t wait to hear from you!
